Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position at a Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital in New Mexico, requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications with specialized neuro ICU skills.

- Level I Trauma, Teaching, and Children's Hospital with 554 staffed beds in a short-term, acute care setting
- Neuro ICU unit with potential reassignment to the CTVICU (Cardiothoracic ICU) due to a new tower opening
- Patient population includes TBI, SAH, SDH, tumor resections, status epilepticus, and other neurological disorders
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- Floating may be required to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED, or PACU to care for admitted patients; Med-surg-level patients and 6:1 ratios are possible but not standard
- No on-call requirement
- Block scheduling is open to accommodation but not guaranteed
- Charting system: Cerner
- 13-week contract; minimum contract or extension length is 10 weeks
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 1.5 years of ICU experience required
- Experience with specialized neuro ICU procedures: EVD insertions, neuro post-op care, A-line insertions, intubation, central line insertion, CRRT, post-TPA care, and post-thrombectomy care
- Experience with EVD and CRRT equipment required
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
- ICP monitoring skills required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with completed exemption form signed by a provider
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval; all time-off requests must be submitted upfront
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark must take a 6-month break before returning
