Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery float pool position requiring experience in antepartum, L&D, and postpartum care across multiple hospital locations in the Boise region.
Details
- Acute care setting within a float pool covering women's services — antepartum, L&D, and postpartum — across three regional hospital locations (Boise, Meridian, and Nampa), all approximately 20 minutes apart and easily accessible via interstate
- Patient population includes antepartum patients at 22+ weeks gestation, high-risk L&D cases (PPROM, placenta previa, pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiple gestations), and postpartum couplet care
- AWHONN staffing guidelines followed; postpartum couplet care ratio is 1:6
- RNs titrate drips including Pitocin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Charting is performed in Epic; experience strongly preferred
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a
- Every other weekend required
- Travelers are first to float and may be floated mid-shift to any unit or facility within the women's services specialty
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Shift assignment is communicated via app approximately 1 hour before shift start
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Idaho RN license or Compact RN license required and must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
- Required certifications (all must be active, from AHA or ARC): BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, and STABLE
- Minimum of 3 years of L&D, antepartum, and postpartum RN experience required — all three areas of experience are mandatory
- Epic EMR experience required
- Ability to titrate drips (Pitocin, Insulin, Magnesium) required
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently within a chain of command structure required
- Valid driver's license required
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Travelers will be oriented across all facilities, with approximately 4–5 orientation shifts covering L&D, postpartum, antepartum, and OR processes at Boise, Meridian, and Nampa locations
- OR circulation experience is preferred but not required; RNs are not required to circulate for C-sections
- NICU resources are present at all deliveries; OB laborist and neonatologist are available 24/7, as is a dedicated CRNA
- Surgical techs are available on units on select shifts; tele techs read cardiac strips when applicable
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- No self-scheduling; shift trade requests require manager approval, and RTO requests should be submitted upfront
- Scheduling blocks and special scheduling requests are not accepted
- Holiday coverage is occasionally required
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent employees of this health system must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
