Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ER/Med-Surg Swing position at a Critical Access Hospital in Minnesota, requiring at least 2 years of ER experience and the ability to rotate between day and night shifts.

Details

• Acute care setting at a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) with Trauma Level IV, STEMI receiving, and Stroke designation
• ER unit with 4 beds and 2 trauma bays; ER holds are intermixed within the ER
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms available on the unit
• Average patient volume of approximately 10 patients per day in the ER
• Float required to Med/Surg and Swing beds, which are on the same unit
• Charting via Point Click Care (PCC)
• RNs are required to read their own cardiac monitor strips using Mindray telemetry monitors
• No RT on staff; RNs are responsible for respiratory therapy equipment management
• Lab draws are performed by lab staff
• 12-hour shifts rotating days and nights (7a–7p and 7p–7a)
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Holiday coverage required when holidays fall within the regularly scheduled shift block
• No on-call or standby requirement

Requirements

• Active MN RN license (Standard or Compact/NLC) required; pending licenses will not be accepted
• Required certifications (must be active): BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC; PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Previous Med/Surg experience required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address)
• Must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered)
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsible for cardiac rhythm interpretation using Mindray telemetry monitors without the support of monitor techs
• Charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a patient assignment
• Nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters are available on an on-call basis
• An ED physician is staffed on the unit; no fast track or separate triage area
• Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift (7a–7p and 7p–7a)
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Block scheduling will be considered; all requested time off must be submitted upfront, as additional RTO will not be approved after submission
• Candidates must complete the MN NetStudy background check process prior to consideration; the affiliate account must be created and registered in the system in advance
