Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a high-acuity, high-volume PACU position requiring recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 Trauma experience and a NH or compact RN license.
Details
- High-acuity, high-volume PACU in a hospital setting with frequent overnight boarding of ICU, step-down, and med-surg patients
- Diverse surgical patient population including vascular (carotids, AAA repairs), thoracic (esophagectomy), neuro (craniotomies, neurostimulators, trach), general, gynecology, orthopedic, kidney transplants, and Whipple procedures
- Day/night rotation with variable start times: 0700, 0800, 0900, 1000, 1100, and 1900
- Ventricular drain management is performed; patients requiring ICP monitoring are transferred directly to the ICU
- Requires proficiency with arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, trachs, and vasoactive and sedative drips
Requirements
- Active NH or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a Level 1 or comparable Level 2 Trauma center
- Previous high-acuity PACU and/or ICU experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with arterial lines, central lines, ventricular drains, chest tubes, trachs, and vasoactive/sedative drip management required
- Two professional references from managers required for consideration

- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
- Evening hours are described as controlled chaos, requiring strong prioritization and adaptability skills
- PACU regularly boards high-acuity overnight patients, including post-craniotomy ICU-level cases
