Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer with at least 1 year of experience to work in an echocardiography unit at a Level II Trauma Center and Certified Stroke Center in Bangor, ME.
Details
- Work in an echocardiography unit with 7 imaging rooms at a Level II Trauma Center and Certified Stroke Center serving a large regional catchment area
- Adult inpatient and outpatient population
- Routine scans include structural heart studies, cardiac echos, TEEs, and stress tests
- Department sees 60–70 patients per day across inpatient and outpatient settings
- EMR: Cerner (required); equipment: Philips
- 4x10-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Weekend rotation done in rotation with other staff; details discussed during interview
- Call rotation typically 1 night per week (on-call shifts are preferred, not required)
- Holiday coverage is considered part of the weekend/call rotation (preferred, not required)
- Floating within the facility only
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer
- Current BLS and ARDMS certification required
- CCI-RCS certification preferred
- License required if applicable — a compact or ME state license is required for consideration
- Candidates must have a permanent address 100+ miles south/southwest of the facility to be eligible
- Candidates must not have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity
- 2 professional references within the past year required, at least one from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge nurse (peer references not accepted)
- Full SSN, copies of all certifications, and a valid driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Supported by an Echo Supervisor, 6–9 additional sonographers, and 7 cardiologists within the department
- 1-week orientation provided
- All requested time off must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
- Flu vaccination is required for employment clearance; medical exemptions are accepted on a case-by-case basis with a minimum 2-week review period
- Teal scrubs required
