Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU travel assignment in Denver, CO, requiring a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience and active CO or compact RN license.
Details
- 21-bed ICU located in the main building of a Magnet-designated community hospital in Denver, CO
- Unit is staffed with approximately 45 team members, with a charge nurse carrying no patient assignment on both day and night shifts
- Standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1, with 3:1 for step-down status patients and 1:1 for very high acuity cases
- Patient population includes sepsis, arrhythmias, and Med/Surg critical care patients — mostly elective cases
- Common procedures include intubation, central line insertion, bronchoscopy, endoscopy, vasopressor IV drip titration, and ventilator management
- Hospira IV pumps are used on the unit
- EMR: Meditech
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (19:00–07:00)
- Required to work every 3rd weekend
- Float to Telemetry and other network hospitals required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CO or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical ICU experience required
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care hospital ICU experience required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSN accepted
- One professional reference required
- Cardiac experience and CRRT experience preferred

- Intensivist is present in the ICU 24/7
- Unit follows a self-scheduling model
- Coverage for one major winter holiday required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Team-oriented candidates with a collaborative attitude are the best fit for this unit
