Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position at an academic medical center in Maryland, requiring 2 years of CVICU experience and rotating day/night shifts.
Details
- Work in a 15-bed CVICU within an academic medical center setting
- Adult and geriatric patient population with an average daily census of 10
- Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias (heart blocks and rhythm disruptions), MI, pulmonary hypertension, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and hypertensive urgency/emergency
- Advanced therapies include LVAD and heart transplant workups as well as mechanical support devices (IABP, Impella)
- Bedside procedures include central line and A-line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
- Specialized equipment includes Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors
- Patient ratio is 1:1, up to 1:3 for stable, lower-acuity patients
- Rotating schedule of 3x12-hour shifts — nights (19:00–07:30) and days (07:00–19:30)
- Every other weekend is required
- Floating required within the specialty to lower-acuity units as needed
- On-call may be required
Requirements
- Active RN license in Maryland (or compact license) currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- CCRN certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU/CICU nursing experience required
- Experience with advanced cardiac equipment including Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, and mechanical ventilators
Additional Information
- First-time travelers with strong CVICU skills and experience will be considered
- Holiday coverage required as holidays fall on the assigned schedule
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Any time-off requests must be disclosed at the time of initial consideration
