Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position at an academic medical center in Maryland, requiring 2 years of CVICU experience and rotating day/night shifts.

Details

• Work in a 15-bed CVICU within an academic medical center setting
• Adult and geriatric patient population with an average daily census of 10
• Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias (heart blocks and rhythm disruptions), MI, pulmonary hypertension, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and hypertensive urgency/emergency
• Advanced therapies include LVAD and heart transplant workups as well as mechanical support devices (IABP, Impella)
• Bedside procedures include central line and A-line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
• Specialized equipment includes Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors
• Patient ratio is 1:1, up to 1:3 for stable, lower-acuity patients
• Rotating schedule of 3x12-hour shifts — nights (19:00–07:30) and days (07:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend is required
• Floating required within the specialty to lower-acuity units as needed
• On-call may be required

Requirements

• Active RN license in Maryland (or compact license) currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• CCRN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU/CICU nursing experience required
• Experience with advanced cardiac equipment including Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, and mechanical ventilators

• First-time travelers with strong CVICU skills and experience will be considered
• Holiday coverage required as holidays fall on the assigned schedule
• Navy blue scrubs required
