Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a MS/Tele position at an acute care hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience and comfort with a 1:6 patient ratio caring for PCU-level patients.
Details
- Work setting is a 210-bed acute care hospital
- MS/Tele unit with PCU-level patient acuity
- 1:6 patient ratio — experience at this ratio is required
- Orthopedic and total joint replacement patient population
- Charting system: Meditech
- Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within scope
- Block scheduling is not available
- Free parking on-site
Requirements
- Active FL or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Experience with a 1:6 patient ratio and PCU-level patients required
- Orthopedic and total joint replacement nursing experience strongly preferred
- Meditech EMR experience preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 30 miles from the facility to be eligible
- 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide MS/Tele nursing care with an emphasis on PCU-level and orthopedic/total joint replacement patients
- Clinical orientation requires a minimum of 5 shifts (approximately 36–40 hours) during the first week
- Approximately 4 hours of online modules must be completed prior to the start date
- Holiday coverage is required: if 1–2 holidays fall within the assignment, traveler must work 1 holiday eve and 1 holiday; if 3 holidays fall within the assignment, traveler must work 1 holiday eve and 2 holidays
- All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application

Cons
Management tends to micromanage, which can impact autonomy. Additionally, when case volume is low, staff may be sent home early, making it difficult to consistently complete scheduled hours. Supplies are tightly controlled through the PICS system, which can sometimes slow down workflow.
