Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift travel contract at a small community health center in Iowa, with BLS and ACLS required.

Details

• Adult Med/Surg unit in a community hospital setting
• Night shift schedule: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
• 12-hour shifts on a full-time basis
• Rotating weekends and holidays required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active Iowa RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
• Experience preferred but not required — new and first-time travelers are welcome to apply

Additional Information

• Plan and provide total patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs
• Responsible for patient and family teaching and guiding ancillary personnel in accordance with professional nursing standards
• Required immunization documentation includes: MMR (2 doses or positive titers), Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer), Polio, Hepatitis B series/titer or signed declination, TDaP within 10 years, and flu vaccine if starting during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
• TB testing required: negative 2-step Mantoux within 1 year of start, or QuantiFERON Gold; if positive, proof of prior positive and chest X-ray results required
• Additional health clearance items required include: proof of physical within 1 year of start, 10-panel drug screen within 1 month of start, and respiratory fit test within 1 year of start
• Background check required covering all states where the candidate has held a professional license or lived/worked in the past 7 years
• Two recent employment references required for consideration
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certificates (Child Abuse & Dependent Adult Abuse) required prior to start — can be completed via CareLearning modules if not already certified
