Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring prior travel experience and proficiency managing continuous IV drip medications on nights.

Details

• Hospital-based Cardiac Telemetry unit with 32 beds
• Adult to geriatric patient population including cardiac (CHF, chest pain, post cardiac cath, arrhythmias including stable A-Fib, SVT, and bradycardia), pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT), renal, DKA, and surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains)
• Occasional overflow patients including vascular, ortho, and CVA — transferred to appropriate unit as soon as possible
• Overflow IMCU responsibilities as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Continuous IV drip management required, including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips
• Procedures include arrhythmia management, cardioversion, TR Band management
• Epic EMR (preferred); Pyxis and SBAR also used
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
• Weekend scheduling typically every other weekend; permanent staff are scheduled first and travelers fill gaps as needed
• Floating required within the facility per scope of practice
• On-call is rare with a 2-hour response time requirement
• 14-week contract

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Demonstrated experience managing continuous IV drip medications required
• Basic arrhythmia knowledge required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Must have no previous employment or travel assignments at any Piedmont facility within the past full year

Additional Information

• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• RTO maximum of 7 days per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• If one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them — no holiday RTO will be approved
• If three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two of them and may request one holiday off for review
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Travelers previously deemed unable to return to one Piedmont facility must complete one successful assignment outside of Piedmont before being placed at a different Piedmont location
• No special scheduling requests or alternate shift requests are permitted
• Local candidates are accepted for this position
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Precedex management is reserved for core staff; travelers are not typically assigned Precedex patients
