Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Pediatric Operating Room position at a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of OR RN experience and both scrub and circulate skills.
Details
- 13-week travel assignment at a short-term acute care, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and major teaching hospital
- 30-bed Pediatric OR unit serving patients from newborn to 17 years of age
- Day shift schedule, either 5x8s (6:45–15:15) or 4x10s (6:45–17:15)
- On-call required: approximately 6–8 call shifts per month, including some weeknights and weekends on a rotating self-schedule
- Schedule must meet unit needs and cannot be blocked
- Will not float to sister facilities
- Charting via Cerner; Accudose and SBAR also used
- Free on-site parking available for travelers
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required prior to start; pending WV license accepted for consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience and 2 years of OR-specific RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Experience with both scrub and circulate roles in a General/Pediatric OR required
- Experience in a pediatric setting required
- Current BLS certification required
- IV start skills preferred
- Robotic surgery experience preferred
- Women's specialty experience preferred
- Candidates must have a permanent address at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates will not be accepted
- Two manager or charge nurse references (within the past 2 years) required for consideration
- Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); medical exemption with documented allergist or physician record accepted
Additional Information
- Perform scrub and circulate duties in a pediatric OR serving a diverse surgical caseload from newborns to adolescents
- Facility is a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Level IV NICU, and a member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)
- Former permanent employees of CAMC must have been separated for at least 2 years before being eligible to work as a traveler
- RTO is considered with no strict restrictions; adding time to the assignment is appreciated when time off is requested mid-contract
