Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an Oncology/Med-Surg position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, with chemotherapy administration experience required.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting on an Oncology/Med-Surg unit with an average daily census of 24 patients
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities is required for all travelers
- No on-call responsibilities
- Charting is performed in Cerner
- Free parking available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or actively in the application process
- Active BLS certification required; AHA or Red Cross accepted — RQI AHA cards are not accepted
- Chemo cert (ONS/ONCC or OCN) preferred but not required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Required chemotherapy skills: administration (IV push, continuous infusion, oral), body fluid handling post-chemo, cytotoxic spill management/disposal, and recognition/communication of abnormal lab values
- Required IV/infusion skills: port access and care, central line blood draw and care, PICC line care, blood/blood product administration, antifungals, antivirals, coagulation factors, and starting IVs
- SSN and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- 13-week contract at a 562-bed Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- Any former permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO requests of 5 days or fewer are generally accommodated; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
- Schedule change requests may be discussed with the manager
- Any solid scrub color is acceptable
