Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with 1+ year of acute inpatient or rehab experience for a 13-week assignment at a Level III trauma hospital offering both acute inpatient and rehabilitation coverage.
Details
- Acute inpatient and rehabilitation unit setting at a Level III trauma hospital
- Floor 2 Occupational Therapy department; travelers may be assigned primarily to acute inpatient but will cover the rehab unit as needed, and potentially the ICU depending on experience
- Common diagnoses include orthopedic/total joints, neurological (strokes, occasional brain injuries), medical, and general ICU cases
- Caseload of approximately 10–12 patients per day
- Rehab aides are available on the unit; no COTAs on staff
- Epic EMR used in this position
- 4x10-hour day shifts, 7:30am–6:00pm; no self-scheduling
- Rotating weekend requirements unless weekends are assigned as a regular shift
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Current, active OT license required (license required if applicable)
- Minimum 1 year of licensed experience in acute inpatient or rehabilitation setting
- Current BLS certification required
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Orientation typically consists of 2–3 days of department-specific onboarding; travelers should expect to work Monday–Friday on 8-hour shifts during the orientation period
- A unit manager is present during shifts
- Scrubs are permitted; scrub color must not match other departments — a list of acceptable colors will be provided upon hire
- Former permanent employees of this facility must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
- No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accommodated
- Epic experience is strongly beneficial given its use throughout the department
