Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level III NICU position in the Houston, TX area, requiring NRP certification and at least 1 year of NICU experience on a night shift schedule.

Details

• Level III NICU in a hospital setting with 42 beds (capacity up to 50)
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 13-week contract
• Patient ratios: 1–2 patients per nurse for Level III (up to 3 for low acuity); 3–4 patients per nurse for Level II, depending on acuity
• Equipment used includes isolettes, OMNI beds, phototherapy units, HFVOF/HFJV ventilators, iNO, bCPAP, and total body cooling systems
• EMR systems: Meditech and CPN
• Floating to Mother/Baby unit required
• Minimum of 4 weekend shifts per schedule; occasional on-call required

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license required
• NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, American Academy of Pediatrics) required
• BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted); certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
• Minimum 1 year of recent NICU experience required
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible

Additional Information

• STABLE certification is preferred; candidates with STABLE will be prioritized
• Experience with central lines (UAC, UVC, Broviacs, PICC) and CPAP is preferred
• Typical procedures include IV starts, PICC insertions (by trained clinicians), and circumcisions
• Unit is staffed with a charge nurse coordinator (CNC) and a resource on the unit each shift for support
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Ideal candidates are team players and self-motivated
