Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level III NICU position in the Houston, TX area, requiring NRP certification and at least 1 year of NICU experience on a night shift schedule.
Details
- Level III NICU in a hospital setting with 42 beds (capacity up to 50)
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
- Patient ratios: 1–2 patients per nurse for Level III (up to 3 for low acuity); 3–4 patients per nurse for Level II, depending on acuity
- Equipment used includes isolettes, OMNI beds, phototherapy units, HFVOF/HFJV ventilators, iNO, bCPAP, and total body cooling systems
- EMR systems: Meditech and CPN
- Floating to Mother/Baby unit required
- Minimum of 4 weekend shifts per schedule; occasional on-call required
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license required
- NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, American Academy of Pediatrics) required
- BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted); certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
- Minimum 1 year of recent NICU experience required
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
Additional Information
- STABLE certification is preferred; candidates with STABLE will be prioritized
- Experience with central lines (UAC, UVC, Broviacs, PICC) and CPAP is preferred
- Typical procedures include IV starts, PICC insertions (by trained clinicians), and circumcisions
- Unit is staffed with a charge nurse coordinator (CNC) and a resource on the unit each shift for support
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Ideal candidates are team players and self-motivated
