Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RNFA for a 13-week Operating Room First Assist assignment at a large Level IV trauma teaching hospital, requiring CNOR and CRNFA certifications and hands-on robotics, urology, and thoracic experience.
Details
- 30-bed adult Operating Room unit in a short-term acute care setting
- Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital; member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)
- Schedule options: 4x10-hour shifts (6:45–17:15) or 3x12-hour shifts (6:45–19:15)
- On-call duties required on rotating weeknights and weekends; self-scheduling applies
- Robotics, urology, and thoracic surgical cases are the primary focus; general OR experience is a plus
- Charting is performed in Cerner
- No floating outside of scope required
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
- Free parking available for travelers
Requirements
- Active, unencumbered WV RN or APN license (or Compact RN license) required to start; candidates with a pending license may be considered
- BSN, MSN, or DNP required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Successful completion of an accredited AORN RNFA training program required
- Current CNOR certification in perioperative nursing through the ABSNC required
- Current CRNFA certification through the ABSNC required, or active participation in the exam process with certification achieved within 12 months of eligibility
- Current BLS certification required
- Hands-on experience with robotics, urology, and thoracic surgical procedures required
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Candidates must live or reside more than 75 miles from the facility (local candidates are not accepted)
- A valid Driver's License and Social Security card are required for consideration
- Minimum of 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Candidates who have been permanent employees must not have worked at this health system within the past 2 years
Additional Information
- Serves as the registered nurse first assistant in adult operative procedures including robotic, urological, and thoracic cases
- Credentialing through Medical Affairs is required and typically takes 30–60 days; candidates should plan start dates accordingly
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Flu vaccination is required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); a documented medical allergy verified by an allergist or physician is the only accepted exemption
- COVID vaccination is not required
- A respirator fit test must be completed prior to starting; candidates may need to travel up to 100 miles to complete this requirement
- Scrub color: Royal Blue or White (RN)
