Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Inpatient Rehab position in West Virginia, requiring 2 years of Med/Surg or Rehab experience and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Inpatient Rehab unit in an acute care hospital setting
• 7-bed unit serving patients with CVA, TIA, MI, hip fractures, Parkinson's disease, chronic condition exacerbations, debility, MVA, and TBI
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:7 with 1 PCT per shift
• No charge nurse on the unit — 1 RN and 1 PCT per shift
• 12-hour night shifts (7pm–7am)
• Every other weekend required
• May be placed in holiday rotation on an alternating schedule (Group 1: New Year's Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve; Group 2: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Christmas)
• Respiratory equipment in use includes CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow
• Cerner EMR used on this unit
• Floating may occur if no census on the rehab unit — possible float to MS, MS-Tele, or IMC for lower acuity patients
• Standby may be required only if census is zero; no routine on-call requirement
• 13-week assignment, nights

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or Inpatient Rehab experience required; prior rehab experience preferred
• Must be comfortable working independently
• Valid, unexpired driver's license required for consideration
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this position

Additional Information

• Collaborates with PT, OT, and SLP as part of an interdisciplinary care team
• RN is required to attend a weekly interdisciplinary team meeting/huddle
• Orientation consists of 1 day with an educator and 1–2 days with a preceptor
• No self-scheduling; schedules are set with staff input and adjusted for vacations and holidays
• Navy blue scrubs required for nursing staff
• Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for more than one cumulative year before a 2-year break is required
• 2 references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference (from a permanent facility if worked within the last 12 months) and 1 peer or additional supervisor reference (e.g., Charge RN)
