Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for night shifts at a Certified Stroke Center, requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications and neuro critical care experience.

• Neuro Intensive Care Unit at a Certified Stroke Center
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-6:45)
• Patient ratio of 2:1
• Float required to other ICUs
• Every other weekend required
• Block scheduling may be considered
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (OK State or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required in hand
• 1-2 years of Neuro ICU experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Skilled in EVD management, ventilator management, and CVA/acute stroke management
• Experience with ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care
• Proficient in arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management
• Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and continuous IV sedation/paralytics
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD preferred
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and ABGs

Additional Information

• Coordinate nursing care based on established clinical standards for Neuro ICU patients
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
• Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel in compliance with Board of Nursing guidelines
• Assist with discharge planning and patient/family education
• Brief onsite orientation provided for floating to like units
• Onsite orientation includes required non-billable modules (approximately 4-6 hours for RNs)
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Former permanent staff must have been separated from employment for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role
