Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy & PACU position in Rapid City, SD, requiring 3+ years of endoscopy or ambulatory surgery pre/post experience at a Magnet-designated Level II Trauma Center.
Details
- Endoscopy unit within a Magnet-designated, 417-bed Level II Trauma Center and teaching hospital
- Unit has 15 pre/post bays with an average of 25–30 patients per day
- Primarily outpatient adult population
- Procedures include upper and lower endoscopy, EGD, colonoscopy, and advanced procedures such as EUS, EBUS, and ERCP
- Phase II recovery only — no Phase I recovery responsibilities
- Pre-op patient ratio is 1:2; post-op ratio is 1:2–3
- EMR is Epic; IV pump is Alaris; medication dispensing via Omnicell
- 12-hour variable shifts, with 10-hour shifts also considered; shift times run 0530–1800
- Schedule is built on a 4-week cycle
- Weekends are call-only; one weeknight call shift per week (end of shift until 0530) and one weekend of call per month (Saturday 0630 – Monday 0530)
- 20-minute on-call response time required
- One holiday call shift expected during the contract
- Floating is not required unless the candidate is comfortable working intraprocedurally
Requirements
- Active RN license — South Dakota or Compact state license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of endoscopy pre/post or ambulatory surgery pre/post experience required
- Strong IV skills required
- Proficiency in Phase II recovery, discharge instruction, enema administration, H&P review, and the consenting process
- Comfort with general endoscopy pre/post nursing care is essential
- Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
- DOB and SSN required for consideration
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Intraprocedural endoscopy experience is preferred but not required
- Department support includes a Charge RN (who may take patients), 4 pre/post RNs, management, and an anesthesia team that provides sedation
- Orientation consists of a new employee orientation (NEO) followed by the remainder of the week in the department
- RTO requests must be submitted through and approved by the manager
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Free parking is available on-site
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- This is a traveler-friendly facility with a strong history of renewals
