Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery (Delivery Room) position in Wichita, KS, requiring at least 1 year of acute care L&D experience and working night shifts on a 13-week contract.

• Located in an acute care hospital setting in Wichita, KS
• Assignment is in the Delivery Room unit (26 beds, 112 staff members)
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 13-week contract
• Patient ratios: 1:1 for high-risk labor and C-sections; 1:2 for antepartum, PPROM, PTL on mag, and postpartum on mag; 1:3 for postpartum on mag without baby and outpatients
• Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, Monica Novii telemetry, and CPN (GE) monitors
• EMR: Meditech / CPN
• Self-scheduling is utilized on this unit
• Typical procedures include C-sections, inductions, AROM, IUPC, DFM, and Doppler

Requirements

• Active KS RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care hospital L&D RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, AAP card), and either EFM-C or intermediate/advanced AWHONN (or NCCEFM) fetal monitoring certification
• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Experience circulating C-sections is preferred
• High-risk LDR experience is preferred
• The unit follows a team nursing approach, with nurses supporting one another across shifts
• Leadership team is actively involved and can work the floor when needed
• Many staff members have 20–40 years of tenure on the unit
• A new OB Hospitalist program provides attending-level support to residents and nurses working triage
