Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Pediatric Float Pool position requiring Level 1 Trauma experience and the ability to float across multiple pediatric specialty units on a night shift schedule.
Details
- Hospital-based position within a Pediatric Float Pool
- Float coverage includes a 34-bed PICU, 25-bed CICU, and 112-bed NICU (feeder/grower and low-acuity patients only), as well as acute care units including surgical, behavioral health, med specialty (GI, neuro, respiratory), hem/onc, step-down, and cardiac peds
- Night shift, 12-hour days, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- Weekends and holidays required
- Float pool position — travelers are first-line for floating across all children's units
- Experience with trach care, high-flow oxygen, and IV infusions required in this role
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact/eNLC)
- Current BLS and PALS, both issued by the American Heart Association
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Proficiency with trach care, high-flow oxygen therapy, and IV infusion management
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Full date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include managing an assigned patient group, administering medications, initiating and monitoring IV infusions and blood products, documenting patient responses, and coordinating with physicians and support staff
- Engages patients and families in care planning throughout the hospital stay and at discharge
- Delegates tasks to support staff and makes appropriate referrals for patient care needs
- BSN from a board-approved program is preferred
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period after completing 26 weeks (one contract plus one extension) before being eligible to return
- Compliance deadlines are strictly enforced — onboarding requirements including drug screens, background checks, and medical requirements must be initiated immediately upon offer acceptance
