Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medicine Specialty Step Down position requiring tracheostomy care and stepdown experience, working night shifts in Oklahoma City, OK.
Details
- Work in a Medicine Specialty Step Down unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes a variety of cases ranging from simple to complex acuity
- Tracheostomy care is performed in this unit
- Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts per week (36 hours/week)
- ICU experience is preferred but not required for this role
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or eNLC compact license) currently in hand
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Current ACLS certification from AHA required
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Stepdown experience required
- Tracheostomy care experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include managing an assigned patient group, monitoring physiological data, administering medications, regulating IV infusions and blood products, and assisting physicians with diagnostic procedures
- Involves patient and family education regarding care plans, hospital procedures, and discharge planning
- Delegates tasks to support staff and coordinates referrals as needed
- All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period after 26 weeks of total service before being eligible for a new contract
- Compliance with onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, medical requirements) must be completed promptly — the facility does not negotiate start dates and will not accommodate non-compliant travelers
