Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Neuro unit position requiring charge experience, Epic proficiency, and a valid MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Night shift schedule (7p–7:30a), 3x12-hour shifts per week
• Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
• Short-term acute care hospital setting within a large academic teaching facility (1,266 staffed beds)
• Medical Surgical Neuro unit serving patients with general neurological and neuromuscular disorders including MS, ALS, GBS, stroke, epilepsy, infections, and tumors
• Patient ratio of 1:4–5
• Charting performed in Epic (experience required)
• Specialized procedures include lumbar punctures, lumbar drains, Foley catheter insertion, IV starts, G-tube management, and tracheostomy care
• Specialized equipment includes bladder ultrasound
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within service line required to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling not available

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Charge nurse experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• IV start proficiency required
• General Med/Surg experience required; Level I or academic teaching hospital experience preferred but not required
• Must pass a Relias EKG exam; EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management skills required
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Navy scrubs required
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travelers may work at BJC facilities for a maximum of 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Parking passes are available for purchase on a monthly basis at nearby lots and garages; night shift workers may park in employee parking at no charge
