Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Neuro unit position requiring charge experience, Epic proficiency, and a valid MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Night shift schedule (7p–7:30a), 3x12-hour shifts per week
- Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
- Short-term acute care hospital setting within a large academic teaching facility (1,266 staffed beds)
- Medical Surgical Neuro unit serving patients with general neurological and neuromuscular disorders including MS, ALS, GBS, stroke, epilepsy, infections, and tumors
- Patient ratio of 1:4–5
- Charting performed in Epic (experience required)
- Specialized procedures include lumbar punctures, lumbar drains, Foley catheter insertion, IV starts, G-tube management, and tracheostomy care
- Specialized equipment includes bladder ultrasound
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within service line required to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling not available
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Charge nurse experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- IV start proficiency required
- General Med/Surg experience required; Level I or academic teaching hospital experience preferred but not required
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam; EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management skills required
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Navy scrubs required
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travelers may work at BJC facilities for a maximum of 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Parking passes are available for purchase on a monthly basis at nearby lots and garages; night shift workers may park in employee parking at no charge
