Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position at a Level I Trauma teaching facility in New Mexico, requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications with a minimum of 1.5 years of ICU experience.
Details
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Neuro ICU setting within a 554-bed Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital
- Patient population includes TBI, SAH, SDH, tumor resections, status epilepticus, and other neurological disorders
- Standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- Floating may be required to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED, or PACU to care for admitted patients; med-surg-like patients and 6:1 ratios may occasionally apply when floating
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- No on-call requirement
- Charting performed in Cerner
- Scrubs must be black
- There is a possibility travelers may be reassigned to the Cardiothoracic ICU (CTVICU) due to a new tower opening
- Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 1.5 years of ICU experience required
- Experience with EVD insertions and EVD equipment required
- Experience with neuro post-op care required
- Experience with A-line insertions, intubation, and central line insertion required
- Experience with CRRT and CRRT equipment required
- Experience with post-TPA care and post-thrombectomy care required
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias required
- ICP monitoring experience required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require prior approval; all time-off requests must be submitted upfront
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark at this facility must take a 6-month break before returning
- Contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks
- Parking is available at no cost
