Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring at least 2 years of experience and a Louisiana or Compact RN license, with night shifts and a strong cardiac skill set.

Details

• Inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes chest pain, CAD, arrhythmias, MI, CHF, COPD exacerbation, PNA, PE, DM, HTN, renal failure, GI bleed, syncope, and PVD, with potential for med/surg overflow including sepsis, CVA, and COVID+
• Specialized procedures include pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Heparin), and bedside sheath pulling
• Special equipment includes telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• Float required to all other inpatient units
• Every other holiday required
• Specific scheduling requests such as block scheduling cannot be accommodated

Requirements

• Active Louisiana or Compact RN license currently in hand
• BLS certification required (AHA-issued)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry experience required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and on-unit monitoring
• Required clinical skills: CABG, chest tubes, post-angiogram/MI/cardiac cath care, sheath removal, port accessing, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care, IV insertion, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, isolation precautions, and wound care/management

Additional Information

• Candidate must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• In the event of an emergency (e.g., natural disaster), staff may be assigned to an emergency team and expected to remain at the facility or serve on a relief team until the event passes
• All requested time off must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
• First-time travelers with at least 2 years of experience will be considered
