Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a fast-paced Observation Unit (MedSurg) position requiring at least 2 years of experience, prior travel experience, and a GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a 22-bed Observation Unit (MedSurg) in an acute care hospital setting
- Heavy telemetry unit with central monitoring; RNs read their own EKG strips
- Miscellaneous medical observation patient population with high patient turnover — up to 16 discharges per day with continuous refilling
- Patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6; charge nurse occasionally takes patients
- CNAs available on the floor when staffing allows
- Heparin is the only titratable drip used on this unit
- No ventilators on this unit; no on-call requirement
- MEDITECH used for charting
- 12-hour night shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to Med Surg required
- Holidays rotate with permanent staff
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required; ACLS not required but highly recommended
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required
- Candidate must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- RNs perform their own EKGs and draw their own labs
- Unit orientation consists of 3 shifts
- Scrub colors: Caribbean Blue top and bottom, white top with Caribbean Blue bottom, or all white
- Candidates who have been employed by the facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Any time-off requests must be disclosed and agreed upon prior to the start of the assignment
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
