Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum (L&D/PP) position requiring at least 2 years of L&D/PP experience and the ability to circulate for C-sections.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with 9 L&D beds and 4 postpartum beds
- Unit averages approximately 55 births per month
- Patient population includes 34 weeks gestation and above, including high-risk deliveries; birth plans are closely followed
- Staffing ratios follow AWHONN guidelines
- Charting is done in Cerner EMR
- Fetal monitoring system used is Fetal Link
- Telemetry system is Phillips
- Respiratory therapy available 24/7; pharmacy available on-site until 10pm, with after-hours coverage provided by an off-site pharmacy
- OB/Neonatologist is on call (not in-house)
- OB tech support provided on both day and night shifts
- Charge nurse is available and does not carry a patient assignment
- 12-hour night shifts, 6pm–6am
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Travelers are first to float between L&D and Postpartum units
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN); all must be active — pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of experience in both L&D and Postpartum required
- Must be able to circulate for C-sections
- COVID vaccine required
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must have experience in both L&D and Postpartum, as floating between the two units is expected
- Prior travel nursing experience is preferred
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Floor-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts; total orientation is 12 hours
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Holiday shifts are integrated into the permanent staff rotation
- Scrubs are provided by the hospital
- Local candidates are accepted for this position
