Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Med/Surg travel assignment in Wheeling, WV, requiring at least 2 years of experience and night shift availability.
Details
- Acute care Med/Surg unit (6N Overflow) in a hospital setting with 30 beds
- Common patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, AKI, and post-surgical cases (cholecystectomy, appendectomy)
- Patient ratio of 1:6–7; candidates must be comfortable with ratios up to 1:7
- PCTs are available on the unit to support nursing staff
- Telemetry is present on the unit and monitored remotely by monitor techs
- Intermittent BiPAP used; no ventilator management required
- RNs are required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results
- Charge RN is on the floor with a patient assignment
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- 12-hour night shifts; scheduling managed through QGenda
- Weekends scheduled as needed, typically approximately half of all weekends during the assignment
- No on-call or standby requirements
- Travelers are the first to float based on census needs
Requirements
- Active WV RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
- BSN not required
- Comfortable working a 1:7 patient ratio when necessary
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Copy of unexpired driver's license required for consideration
- Any licensing disciplinary actions or hits must be disclosed
Additional Information
- 13-week contract with 12-hour night shifts
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Holiday coverage scheduled as needed
- Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being eligible to apply
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for more than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
- Two professional references are required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference (e.g., Charge RN)
