Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring Level 1 or comparable Level 2 trauma experience and specialized neuro-surgical skills including ventriculostomies and lumbar drains.
Details
- 10-bed Progressive Care Unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes neuromuscular disorders, meningitis, TBI, spinal cord injury, primary stroke, head and neck cancer, surgical tumor resections (brain and spine), spinal surgery, and Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) trials with lumbar drains
- Day/Night rotation, 36 hours per week
Requirements
- Active NH or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 trauma experience
- Hands-on experience with arterial lines, ventriculostomies, subdural drains, and lumbar drains required
- Experience with hemodynamic and invasive BP monitoring required
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP and trach CPAP patients on the ventilator required
- Experience with low-dose pressors, vasoactive medications, and inotropes required
- Experience with Mannitol and 3% saline administration required
- Experience managing complex wounds, lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical patients required
- Two references from managers required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- Care responsibilities include management of neurosurgical and neuro-medical patients with complex monitoring and drain needs
