Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position at a Level II Trauma facility in Sacramento, CA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cath Lab experience and an active CA RN license.

Details

• Cardiac Cath Lab unit within an acute care, Level II Trauma hospital setting
• Performs all cardiac invasive procedures (excluding structural heart), as well as peripheral procedures including carotid, A/V grafts, EVAR, and peripheral diagnostic and interventional cases; no 'dirty' procedures such as PEGs, G-tubes, or nephrostomy tubes
• Averages approximately 8 cases per day across 2 lab suites
• Primary charting system is Cerner
• Day shift, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM (10-hour shifts) with call requirements
• On-call required with an average of 12 call days per assignment (up to 18 depending on staffing); 30-minute response time required
• Weekend call required at minimum every other weekend, from Friday 1530 to Monday 0700
• Holiday call required on a rotating, assigned basis
• No floating required
• Cath Lab/IR Techs and Charge Nurse support are available on unit
• Respiratory Therapy, IV Team, and Pharmacy support available 24/7
• Ventilator use is part of this role

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Active driver's license required
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked (both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire)
• 30-minute on-call response time capability required

Additional Information

• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity Health, within the past year are not eligible; candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Prior to contract confirmation, candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam — this is a pass/fail exam with a maximum of 2 attempts
• A sterile technique skills test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is administered on the first day of orientation
• Candidates who do not scrub will still be considered
• Hospital-provided scrubs are supplied
• Orientation length is 1–2 shifts depending on skill level
• 13-week contract with a 12-hour orientation period
