Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant) position requiring inpatient hematology oncology experience, chemotherapy certification, and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Inpatient BMT unit within a cancer hospital and research center, functioning as a mixed-acuity PCU and Med/Surg unit
- Patient population includes diagnoses such as ALL, AML, CLL, CML, Hodgkin's and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Myelodysplastic Syndrome, Myeloproliferative Disorders, Aplastic Anemia, and Amyloidosis
- Specialized procedures include autologous, syngeneic, and allogeneic stem cell transplants, as well as CAR-T therapy
- Skills utilized include telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, chemotherapy administration, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, central line sterile dressing changes, peripheral line care, feeding tube management, and nasal cannula administration
- Rapid Response Team protocols are utilized on this unit
- Epic EMR experience is required
- Shifts are 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 days per week; a rotating day/night schedule may also be available depending on department needs
- Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period and are subject to change based on staffing priorities
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required
- ONS Chemotherapy Certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient Med/Surg experience required
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient hematology oncology experience required; Heme/Onc experience is strongly preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted
Additional Information
- Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be initiated promptly after accepting an offer; candidates outside Ohio may need to travel to an in-state fingerprinting location or will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to be completed urgently
- Former employees of this facility are eligible for a travel assignment after a minimum 6-month separation
- Local candidates are accepted
- Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and is limited to 7 days or fewer for the contract duration
- Parking is available on-site for agency staff through a campus parking program with multiple permit options at varying price points

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
