Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring MD or Compact RN licensure and a minimum of 2 years of CVICU-specific experience.

Details

• Work in a 15-bed CVICU at an academic medical center with an average daily census of 10 patients
• Adult and geriatric patient population with complex cardiovascular diagnoses including cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, MI, cardiac arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and hypertensive urgency/emergency
• Advanced therapy workups including LVAD and heart transplant evaluations
• Patient ratio of 1:1, up to 1:3 for stable, lower-acuity patients
• Specialized procedures include bedside central/A-line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
• Specialized equipment includes Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, mechanical ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors
• Rotating shift schedule: 3x12-hour nights (19:00–07:30) and 3x12-hour days (07:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the specialty and to lower-acuity units as needed
• On-call may be required

Requirements

• Active RN license for the state of Maryland (MD) or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• CCRN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
• Experience with mechanical support devices (Impella, IABP, VAD) and CRRT required

Additional Information

• First-time travelers with strong CVICU skills and experience will be considered
• Holiday coverage required as shifts fall on the schedule
• Navy blue scrubs required
