Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN with 2+ years of neuro critical care experience and NIHSS certification for a night shift assignment at a teaching hospital.

Details

• Neuro Intensive Care Unit setting within a teaching hospital
• 36 hours per week, night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
• Weekend shifts considered Friday and Saturday nights only
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Uses Epic EMR
• Performs IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure monitoring

Requirements

• Active RN license, Ohio state or compact license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Minimum 2 years of experience with strong Neuro ICU background
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Skills required include arterial line management, central line care, EVD management, ICP monitoring, care of ventilated patients, and management of CVA/acute stroke, traumatic brain injury, and post-craniotomy patients
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to neurosurgical and neurological ICU patients, including stroke, TBI, and spinal cord injury cases
• Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting as soon as the contract is signed due to strict credentialing timelines
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignments only after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for traveler positions
• RTO must be requested at time of consideration and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• First-time travelers will be considered but require additional screening
