Description
American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN with a minimum of 2 years of neuro ICU experience and an active OH or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit of a teaching hospital environment
- Patient ratio estimated at 1:1-2
- Day/Night rotation shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM / 7:00 PM-7:30 AM), rotating every 4 weeks
- Requires working every other weekend
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Uses Epic EHR system
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Skills required: IV starts, telemetry, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring
- Additional relevant skills include arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, EVD and lumbar drain management, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to neuro ICU patients including those with CVA/acute stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract; those within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
- RTO requests must be submitted with the contract and are limited to 7 days or less
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
