Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg (Acute Care) position requiring a GA or compact RN license, at least 1 year of hospital Med/Surg experience, and availability for every other weekend shifts.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with a 36-bed Med/Surg unit
• Patient population includes CHF, COPD, ESRD, pneumonia, renal failure, sickle cell crisis, orthopedic surgery, bariatric surgery, AMS, and sepsis
• Telemetry monitoring is present on the unit; nurses are not required to read strips
• RN/LPN patient ratio is 6:1; CNA ratio is 12:1
• Charting is performed in MEDITECH
• Day shift: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage is required
• Occasional floating to other units may be required
• No drips or ventilator management required
• Hospitalist in house 24/7; Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• No dedicated IV team; PICC team may be consulted as needed
• Charge nurses and nurse aides are present on the unit

Requirements

• Active GA RN license or compact RN license (must be in hand at time of consideration)
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS
• ACLS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a hospital Med/Surg unit
• MEDITECH EMR experience beneficial
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility (measured from the address on their driver's license) to be eligible

Additional Information

• Floor-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts (16 orientation hours total)
• Scrub colors required: white tops and hunter green pants
• Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement
• Time off and scheduling requests are honored only if submitted prior to the start of the assignment
• Cancellation policy allows up to 12 hours of cancellation every 2 weeks
