Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity COVID ICU (LRICU) travel assignment in San Antonio, TX, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and active TX RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in a 14-bed COVID ICU (2 South) within a large hospital setting in San Antonio, TX
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekend requirement (every other weekend)
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Advanced procedures performed on the unit include ECMO, CRRT, chest tube insertions, and central line insertions
  • ECMO NxtSTG equipment is utilized on the unit
  • Documentation system: Meditech (experience preferred)
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating to other units is required per the facility's floating policy
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active TX RN license required; temp licenses are not accepted
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification required
  • Minimum 2+ years of recent ICU experience required
  • Comfort with vasoactive drips and strong understanding of hemodynamics required
  • ECMO experience preferred
  • CRRT (NxtSTG) experience preferred
  • Meditech EMR experience preferred
  • US SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • One professional reference required
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • High-acuity unit specializing in COVID patients with advanced interventions including VV ECMO
  • RNs are required to wear navy scrub top and pants; navy or white scrub jacket permitted
  • Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited; body art should be covered whenever possible
  • Hair should be neat and clean with no extreme styles or colors; beards and facial hair must be neatly trimmed
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
  • First-time travelers are not mentioned as eligible; 2+ years of ICU experience is required

Techs stay on the scanner and don't allow other techs to scan, so your setting up all the scans all day sometimes. .
