Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an off-campus Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ED experience, evening shift availability, and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- Off-campus Emergency Department (ED) location, open 24/7, with 8-10 beds
- Patient population spans neonates to geriatrics, with approximately 25% pediatric cases; includes walk-in traumas, cardiac, neuro, GI, respiratory, psych, and frequent GSW drop-offs
- Standard patient ratio is 1:4; fast track ratio is 1:6 with an RN/NP team
- 12-hour evening shifts; shift start times include 1100 and 1300
- Every other weekend rotation required
- 6-week scheduling cycles
- Up to 5 days of RTO available
- No floating required
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris infusion pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system
Requirements
- Active WA state or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Advanced NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC
- Minimum 2 full years of ED experience required (any trauma level)
- Strong IV skills required, including blood draws (majority of draws are RN-performed)
- Experience with chest tubes and central lines required
- Competency with medication administration, including mixing own medications
- Traveler Telemetry Competency exam must be completed and passed prior to start
- At least one supervisor-level reference (charge nurse or above) required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Orientation includes a hospital orientation day, a full day with the unit educator, an 8-hour respiratory/ventilator class, and a full day on the unit
- No respiratory therapists are on-site; RNs are responsible for managing ventilators and BiPAP — training is provided during onboarding
- No on-site pharmacy; RNs mix their own medications under remote pharmacist supervision via video conference
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be required; facility will provide training if needed
- Unit support includes a charge nurse, ED physician, ER tech, and front desk staff
- Scrubs may be any color
- Free parking is available on-site
- Holiday coverage expectations are negotiable
