Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position in Rapid City, SD, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cath Lab experience including coronary, structural heart, complex PCI, and peripheral procedures.
Details
- Located in a hospital Cardiac Cath Lab with 2 Cath lab rooms and 2 Hybrid peripheral/OR rooms
- Patient population includes coronary artery disease, STEMI, cardiogenic shock, complex total occlusions, diagnostic Cath procedures, valvular disease, renal disease, carotid stenosis, limb salvage, peripheral stenosis, thrombosis disease, Impella insertion, and LVAD insertions
- 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- 12-hour variable shifts, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every 4th weekend
- On-call required 1-2 days per week from 1630–0600, and every 4th weekend from 1630 Friday through 0600 Monday
- Charge nurse coverage Monday–Friday, 0600–1630
- No floating required
- Epic (required) and Epic Cupid (preferred) for charting; Alaris and Omnicell also used
Requirements
- Active RN license issued by the South Dakota Board of Nursing or a valid Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience required, including coronary, structural heart, complex PCI, and peripheral procedures
- Proficiency with critical patient assessment, vasoactive and sedation drug administration, sterile technique, air management, laser and lithotripsy atherectomy, cardiac Cath lab procedures, and peripheral IV skills
- Experience with devices including IABP, Impella, Rotoblator, and Penumbra required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Completion of a board of nursing-approved nursing education program required
- Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
- DOB and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Minimum of 2 years of experience required; candidates with only 1 year will not be considered
- Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Former permanent staff must wait a full year before returning as a traveler
- Orientation consists of 4 days at 10 hours per shift
- Holiday coverage may be required for approximately 1 holiday per assignment
- Time off requests must be approved by the Nurse Manager
- Procedural scrubs are provided by the facility
- Free parking is available on-site
