Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position at a Level II Trauma teaching hospital in Rapid City, SD, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cath Lab experience and an SD or compact RN license.
Details
- Cardiac Cath Lab unit within a 417-bed Level II Trauma Center, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, and Primary Stroke and Chest Pain Center on the Journey to Magnet Status Designation
- Teaching hospital environment with a dedicated Cath Lab separate from IR
- Lab setup includes 2 Cath labs and 2 Hybrid peripheral/OR suites
- Patient population includes coronary artery disease, STEMI, cardiogenic shock, complex total occlusions, valvular disease, renal disease, carotid stenosis, limb salvage, peripheral stenosis, thrombosis, Impella insertion, LVAD insertions, and more
- 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Devices used include IABP, Impella, Rotoblator, and Penumbra
- Charting in Epic (required) and Epic Cupid (preferred); also uses Alaris and Omnicell
- 12-hour night shifts, 48 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every 4th weekend
- On-call required 1-2 days per week from 1630–0600, and every 4th weekend from 1630 Friday to 0600 Monday
- No floating required
Requirements
- Active SD or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience with coronary, structural heart, complex PCI, and peripheral cases
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficient in critical patient assessment, vasoactive and sedation drug administration, sterile technique, air management, Laser and Lithotripsy Atherectomy, and peripheral IV skills
- Experience with IABP, Impella, Rotoblator, and Penumbra devices
- DOB and SSN required for consideration
- 2 professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered if highly experienced in coronary, structural heart, complex PCI, and peripheral cases
- Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Former permanent staff must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler
- Orientation consists of 4 days of 10-hour shifts
- Charge nurse coverage available Monday–Friday, 0600–1630
- Holiday coverage may be required for up to 1 holiday per assignment
- Time off requests must be approved through the unit manager
- Procedural scrubs are provided by the facility
- Free parking available on-site
- Epic Cupid experience is preferred in addition to standard Epic
