Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring TNCC and a minimum of 2 years of ED experience.
Details
- High-volume Emergency Department within an 885-bed Level 1 Trauma academic medical center featuring a Chest Pain Center, Burn Center, and Stroke Center
- ED consists of 55 horizontal beds, 6 vertical beds, 15 observation beds, and 5 behavioral health holding beds, with an average daily census of 200–220 patients
- Patient population spans ESI levels 1–5 and includes trauma, stroke, STEMI, burns, GSWs, stabbings, MVC, MI, CVA, cardiac/respiratory arrest, overdoses, conscious sedation, vent management, and behavioral health presentations
- RN-to-patient ratio ranges from 3:1 to 6:1 depending on clinical area and acuity
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, GE point-of-care ultrasound, and GE EKG machines
- 12-hour night shifts, 1930–0730, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call requirements
- May float to the ED Transition Care Unit
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Most recent experience must be within the last year
- Level 1 Trauma Center experience required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Very fast-paced regional trauma center environment; travelers will not typically be assigned to trauma bays during initial contracts
- Support staff includes ED Techs (ADLs, vitals, I/O, foley, phlebotomy), unit secretaries, charge nurses, paramedic staff, pod leader resource nurses, SANE Quality Coordinator, and 24/7 coverage by critical care pharmacists, RT, hospitalists, and intensivists
- Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- RTO requires manager approval
- Scrubs: Royal Blue
- Parking is free
- First-time travelers will be considered only with 3+ years of Level 1 Trauma Center experience
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
- One professional reference dated within the past year is required; must be from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
