Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care/Telemetry float position requiring at least 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and an active IA or compact RN license.
Details
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts per week (36-hour schedule may be accommodated upon request)
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- 130-bed facility
- Telemetry monitoring responsibilities including EKG/ECG rhythm strip and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Drip management required: heparin, insulin, Lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin
- This is a float position with no designated home unit — RN will be assigned based on census and staffing needs across Med/Surg, Behavioral Health, ED, ICU, and post-procedural areas
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday rotation required
- No on-call responsibilities
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
Requirements
- Active IA single-state or compact/multistate RN license required
- Current AHA or ARC BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required (may be obtained during onboarding)
- De-escalation certification (SAMA, MAB, MOAB, or CPI) preferred (may be obtained during onboarding)
- Minimum 24 months of experience in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Med/Surg Telemetry required
- Proficiency with telemetry duties including EKG/ECG interpretation, rhythm strips, and dysrhythmia reads required
- Proficiency with drip management (heparin, insulin, Lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, digoxin) required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Driver's license required for consideration
- One supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Candidates who were employed by the facility within the past 12 months may not be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have at least 2 years of nursing experience; hospital or medical center background is prioritized
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility — no local candidates
- Must complete and pass a Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment with a score of 80% or higher during onboarding
- Required to work 1–2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day
- Skills checklist submitted for consideration must be specific to Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Med/Surg Telemetry
