Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post-Surgical Care (Med/Surg Tele) position at a Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• 28-bed Post Surgical Care unit in a 457-licensed-bed Level III Trauma Teaching Hospital with designations including Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
• Patient population includes orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, trauma, vascular surgery, and medical overflow cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4–6, with potential surge ratios of 1:7–8
• Common procedures and skills include incision care, wound care/wound vacs, chest tubes, trach care, NG tube insertion, drain management, and use of braces/traction
• EMR: Epic (experience required); IV pump: BD Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips and Masimo; remote telemetry monitoring utilized
• 12-hour day shifts, 7a–7p, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Floating may be required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH — peds only)

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• General post-surgical skillset required, including wound care, chest tubes, trach care, NG tube insertion, drain management, and use of braces/traction
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, IV/VAT team, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, house supervisor, rapid response/code team, and a behavioral response team (BERT) for de-escalation
• A mentor is available to provide additional support and assist with policy information
• Orientation includes facility-level NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays

• Must be separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before being eligible
