Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Albemarle, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and a full general ED skillset including critical care drips and vent management.
Details
- Work in a 16-bed Emergency Department at a 109-licensed-bed community hospital located in Albemarle, NC (approximately one hour from Charlotte)
- Treats both pediatric and adult patients with common presentations including COPD, CHF, chest pain, MI, NSTEMI, stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmias, uncontrolled DM, and minor trauma
- Patient ratio is 1:4-5 RN, based on acuity
- EMR is Epic; experience preferred
- IV pumps: Alaris | Med dispensing: Omnicell | Monitors: Philips | Bedside and central telemetry monitoring available
- 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating is required across Region 1 facilities, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, any freestanding ED within the region, Lake Norman, and the Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) — candidates who are not agreeable to this floating requirement should not apply
- No on-call responsibilities
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI
- TNCC preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Strong general ED skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drip management, ventilator management, chest tube experience, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, and ESI assessments
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Hospital has no trauma designation and is not a teaching facility
- Facility is an Advanced Primary Stroke Center
- Department support includes CNAs, a charge nurse (may or may not carry a patient assignment), an IV/VAT team (ancillary, not in-house daily), Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and an ED physician team
- Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; if contracted hours cannot be met, time must be added to the end of the contract
- Scrub color: Navy | Parking is free
- First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
- Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
- A clinical interview is required
