Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NICU capability and adult experience for a day shift position at a hospital-based respiratory care unit in Raleigh, NC.
Details
- Hospital-based respiratory care unit
- Serves a mixed patient population including adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
- NICU-capable experience required alongside adult respiratory care
- Uses SERVO-U ventilators
- Epic EMR preferred
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
- Weekend coverage required, either every weekend or every other weekend
- Holiday coverage required based on staffing needs
- No on-call required
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Current RRT certification from the NBRC
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- NICU-capable with adult experience
- At least one of the following certifications depending on practice area: ACLS, NRP, PALS, or CPFT
- License required if applicable
- Two professional references required for consideration
Additional Information
- Administers a full range of respiratory care including aerosol medication delivery, oxygen therapy, breathing exercises, and bedside pulmonary function testing
- Provides comprehensive airway management including tracheostomy care, tracheostomy tube changes, endotracheal intubations, and extubations
- May manage ventilator setup, monitoring, and weaning using specialized ventilator modes
- May perform advanced practice procedures such as UAC/UVC insertion, IV insertion, intraosseous insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, ABG analysis, and blood glucose monitoring
- May transport pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals as part of air care operations
- May manage extracorporeal circulation (ECMO) for cardiac and respiratory patient support
- Functions independently with minimal supervision and serves as a resource to other staff
- Drug screening must be completed within 24 hours of acceptance; allow at least 2 weeks for background check and drug screen results
