Description
American Traveler is seeking a Mammography Technologist for a 13-week travel assignment in a remote Alaska facility, performing diagnostic and screening mammography exams across all patient age groups.

- Remote facility located in Yukon Kuskokwim region of Alaska
- Diagnostic imaging department performing mammography, including routine screening and specialized diagnostic views
- Patient population spans all ages, from newborn through geriatric
- Day shift schedule
- Orientation takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years post-graduation experience preferred
- Current ARRT (R)(M) registration or equivalent required
- Current BLS certification required
- Initial training in digital mammography and tomosynthesis required
- Meets current MQSA requirements, including 15 breast CEUs within 36 months and 200 mammography exams within 24 months preferred
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist program with dedicated mammography training preferred; current ARRT registration may be accepted in lieu
- Recent x-ray experience preferred; Fuji experience preferred
- DOB and SSN required for consideration
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Performs mammography examinations including routine screening and specialized diagnostic views, corroborating patient clinical history with procedure and coordinating follow-up as appropriate
- Evaluates images for technical quality, manipulates display parameters, and performs QA/QC duties per department standards
- Transfers imaging to PACS and other workstations and maintains archival data storage
- Assists radiologists and attending physicians as required, including verifying informed consent and applying aseptic techniques during procedures
- Applies radiation protection principles to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others
- Participates in orientation and training of new staff and other healthcare professionals as requested
- Performs clerical and receptionist duties as needed to support full department coverage
- Advocates for routine breast cancer screening for patients and prepares and sends exam conclusion letters
- Competency documentation is required upon arrival, including IV/central line site care, fall precautions, age-specific competencies, abuse/neglect, pain management, restraints and seclusion, blood transfusions, and current BLS
- A medication calculation math test (adult and pediatric) must be completed upon arrival and prior to working
- Hospital housing is provided in shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces; male or female units only, no dogs allowed; travelers coordinate directly with the facility
- Flight reimbursement is available at economy level; a detailed flight and luggage receipt must be submitted to American Traveler Staffing for reimbursement processing
- Flight itinerary must be provided one week before the start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup upon arrival but does not provide return transportation pickup
