Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week day shift travel contract in Carlsbad, NM, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience, floating to ER and Med-Surg, and a New Mexico or Compact RN license.
Details
- Day shift position, 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM, in a 12-bed ICU
- Float rotation to the Emergency Room and Med-Surg departments is required
- Patient ratio is 1:2–3 in the ICU; when floating to Med-Surg, nurse may take a full assignment of up to 6 patients or serve in an aide capacity (12 patients)
- When floating to the ER, nurse assists with call lights, medication passes, patient transport, IV starts, and blood draws rather than taking a full patient assignment
- EMR: MedHost
- No on-call required
- Holiday coverage is required
- Any scrub color is acceptable
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; no certifications may expire within the first 30 days of the contract start
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- Experience in both ER and Med-Surg settings required
- Experience with ventilators, titratable drips, and medication mixing preferred
- TNCC preferred
- Candidates must not have worked at any CHS facility as permanent staff within the past 2 years
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Valid driver's license required
- US Social Security Number required
Additional Information
- Scope of care includes total ICU patient care: ventilator management, titratable drips, and hygiene care
- A float log is maintained in the ICU and nurses participate in a rotation; the house supervisor or director may override the log based on departmental need (e.g., prioritizing a nurse with ER experience when the ER is short-staffed)
- Fingerprinting is required for all travelers working in New Mexico; this process can take several weeks
- RTO requests must be less than one week in duration
