Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a mixed-acuity Telemetry unit requiring advanced care/step-down experience, EKG strip interpretation, and night shift availability.
Details
- Mixed-acuity Telemetry unit in a large hospital setting
- Advanced care level patients requiring experience with advanced care drips
- Targeted patient ratio of 1:4, with potential variation up to 1:5-6
- Unit operates under a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs partner to care for patient groups; nurses may function in either team nursing or primary nursing depending on unit needs
- Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- 36- or 48-hour weekly contracts accepted
- Every other weekend and holiday work required
- Floating is required to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units; travelers are first to float at the facility's discretion
- If assigned to the main campus, floating may include a south campus (less than 10 miles away) and a north campus (less than 15 miles away)
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required or willingness to obtain
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large hospital setting
- Advanced care or step-down unit experience required
- Level 1 trauma center experience preferred; Level 2 experience accepted
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Must pass an online EKG/Telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- 13-week assignment
- No more than 7 days of RTO will be approved for this assignment
- No holiday RTO requests will be accepted
- Travel partners are not accepted for this position
- Nurses will be fitted for an N95 mask prior to working on applicable units; PAPR may be offered if needed
- Medical exemptions for vaccination or health requirements will not be accepted for this contract
- First-time travelers are not explicitly welcomed; 2+ years of experience and travel experience preferred
