Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele (Ortho) position on a night shift schedule, requiring orthopedic experience and Epic EMR proficiency.
Details
- Adult 26-bed orthopedic spine unit specializing in spinal surgeries, including laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies, with integrated pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support
- Patient diagnoses include Med/Surg, Tele, cardiac, low-risk ACS, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, dehydration, chest pain, DVT, and PE
- Special procedures include bedside lumbar puncture, post-cath care (radial/femoral), post-surgical care, post renal biopsy, CT Angio, and Heparin drips
- Patient ratio of 1:5–6
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required (6 weekend shifts total)
- Agency staff are required to float to other units or campuses as needed; floating is limited to units where staff are qualified with documented competencies
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active SC or compact (multi-state) RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Tele or orthopedic unit experience required
- Orthopedic experience required
- Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
- Valid driver's license and Social Security Number required for consideration
Additional Information
- This is a Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center — the only such designation in the Midlands region of South Carolina
- Two professional references required for consideration
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the contracted campus to be eligible for this night shift Med/Surg Tele position; candidates under 50 miles are ineligible
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront and are subject to facility approval
