Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Trauma Intermediate PCU night shift position in Springfield, MO, requiring at least 1 year of ICU experience and current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Details
- Neuro Trauma Intermediate PCU (Step Down/PCU) in a hospital setting — an intermediate-level ICU with 26 beds
- Patient population includes neuro, trauma, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory distress, and insulin drip management
- Patient ratios of 3:1 or 4:1
- Equipment includes Philips monitors, chest tubes, art lines, wound vacs, drains, EVDs, Nicom, BiPAP, and Airvo
- EMR: Epic
- Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week assignment
- Weekends required as needed by the facility
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required on a rotational basis to critical care cluster or med/surg
Requirements
- Active RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for Missouri licensure or hold a current MO or compact RN license
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required — Canadian SINs are not accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient ICU experience required
- No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift, with significant bending, stooping, lifting, and turning of patients
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. and pinch up to 15 lbs.; kneeling, crouching, and crawling may be required minimally
Additional Information
- Provides direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for post-trauma, post-surgical, and medically complex patients
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
- The facility is a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and a Level 2 Stroke Center (MoDHSS), as well as a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center
- Black scrubs required; Mercy-logo attire is also acceptable
- Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption is required from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
- Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidate must be available the entire orientation week
- RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; RTO will not be approved during the first week, and only 1 holiday RTO request is permitted per assignment
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate and may work no more than 3 consecutive 13-week contracts at the facility before a 1-year separation or reassignment outside the 50-mile radius is required
