Description
American Traveler is seeking a Radiation Oncology RN with a minimum of 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and oncology/pediatric oncology background for a 16-week travel assignment at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital.
Details
- Radiation Oncology unit within a large, short-term acute care hospital (1,273 staffed beds)
- Level I Trauma and Magnet-designated teaching facility
- Adult and pediatric oncology patient population, including peds anesthesia recovery cases
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Monday–Friday schedule, days only (7:00–15:30), 5x8-hour shifts
- No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements
- Floating within scope of practice as needed to meet facility needs
- Charting performed in Epic (experience required)
Requirements
- Active Missouri RN license required at time of consideration; pending Illinois license accepted for IL-based candidates (please note at time of consideration)
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
- Oncology and pediatric oncology experience required
- Experience with port access on pediatric patients strongly preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include managing radiation cases alongside the clinical team, directing patient flow in the clinic area, and performing Stage 2 recovery for pediatric anesthesia cases
- Port access on pediatric patients is a strongly preferred skill for this role
- Educates patients and families on illness management, post-treatment home care, and medication administration
- Assesses and addresses physical, psychosocial, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific patient needs
- Participates in patient safety, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance activities
- Navy scrubs required
- Parking is available at the facility for a fee (not reimbursed)
- RTO is limited to 1 request per contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travelers may remain at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break is required before returning
- Former permanent employees of BJC must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
