Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro IR position at a Level II Trauma Center and Teaching Hospital in Rapid City, SD, requiring ICU experience and SD or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Located in a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Level II Pediatric Trauma, Primary Stroke and Chest Pain Center, and Teaching Hospital on the Journey to Magnet Status Designation
- Position is in the Medical Imaging - Radiology unit, working as part of the Neuro IR Stroke Team
- Unit contains 2 cath labs and 2 hybrid peripheral/OR rooms
- Patient types are discussed during the interview process
- Patient ratio is 1:1
- Shift hours are 0700-1530 when not on call and 0730-1600 when on call
- On-call rotation is one week on, two weeks off
- Weekend rotation is discussed during the interview process
- Holiday expectations are discussed during the interview process
- No floating required
- Charting systems include Epic (required), Epic Cupid (preferred), Alaris, and Omnicell
Requirements
- Active RN license — SD or compact license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Completion of a board-approved nursing education program
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1-year experience not accepted)
- ICU experience is required — this role is a member of the Neuro IR Stroke Team
- IR-only experience is not accepted
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency with endotracheal ventilation, including basic ventilator management
- Experience with tracheostomy patients, including ventilation through stoma
- Experience managing vasoactive drips, sedation drips, and safe use of paralytics
- Proficiency with arterial line setup, troubleshooting, and monitoring
- Experience with External Ventricular Drains (EVDs), including Camino ICP monitoring
- Experience with external pacemakers and chest tubes
- Experience with Swan/Cordis central line catheter use and monitoring
- Experience with recovery and monitoring of arterial puncture sites
- Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
- DOB and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- RN serves as a member of the Neuro IR Stroke Team, providing advanced procedural and critical care support
- Charge nurse available Monday–Friday, 0600–1630
- Orientation consists of 4 days of 10-hour shifts
- Scrubs are procedural and provided by the facility
- Free parking is available on-site
- Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Former permanent staff must wait a full year before returning as a traveler
- Time-off requests must be approved by the manager
