Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a fast-paced adult surgical/trauma unit requiring at least 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg experience and a NH or Compact RN license.
Details
- 36-bed adult surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes trauma patients (spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic trauma) and acute care surgical patients (hernia repair, small bowel obstructions, appendectomy, cholecystectomy)
- RN-to-patient ratios: 1:4 on days, 1:5 on nights
- LNA-to-patient ratio: 1:12
- Unit includes 2 negative pressure rooms serving the COVID patient population
- Telemetry monitoring required on the unit
- Experience with chest tubes, trachs/laryngectomies, complex wounds, central lines (care, maintenance, and blood draws), post-surgical lines/tubes/drains, and IV drips (Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, amiodarone) required
Requirements
- Active NH RN license or Compact RN license required (proof of state residency required for Compact license holders)
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum of 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg experience required
- Recent Level I Trauma center experience required within the last 2 years; comparable Level II Trauma center experience may be considered
- Proficiency with IV drips including Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, and amiodarone
- Experience with chest tubes, trachs/laryngectomies, telemetry, complex wound care, and central line care and maintenance
- Two professional references from managers required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- Primary focus of the unit is rehabilitation and comprehensive support for trauma and post-surgical patients
